Living Energy Lights (LEL) is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to promote direct drive DC Microgrids (D3M) as an alternative to expensive, and resource intensive renewable energy systems. We do this through educational programming and logistical support of D3M installations.
LEL began as an outreach project of Living Energy Farm, an intentional community and organic farm in Louisa, Virginia that is home to the first and most developed D3M. While our team has grown beyond the LEF membership, the fabrication of our custom DC equipment (like the Roxy Solar Electric Oven and Iron Sun Kit) continues to be based out of LEF.
Our managers, teachers and installers are all volunteers, and we are supported financially through private donations and the sales of our DC equipment.
